Navagraha Karakatwam – Attributes of the Nine Planets

Navagraha Karakatwam means the results the planets offer. The following results discussed in this article that a particular planet gives, is as per its natural tendencies. The effects could be seen during Dasa, Bhukti, Antara periods and also during transits. These indications would be helpful by and large to predict based on one’s planetary constellations and Dasa period.

Suryan (Sun):  Pitrukaraakan

Brother, land, real estate, Badrakali, Durga, Lord Subramanya, anger, potter, avocations using agni, warfare, blood, bruises, chivalry, copper, red ratnam, tuar dal, hatred, liabilities, self-cooking, virility, happiness, goats, chief of army, raw power, premature death, copulation with widows, divisive etc., are all kaarakaas for Kuja.

Budha (Mercury): Maternal Uncle and Knowledge

Education, wisdom, avatara Maha Vishnu, business, accountant, banker, charity, messenger, chariot driver, ability to speak effectively, storytelling, music, making discourses, pouraanika, upaasana, strategist, truthful messages, Sri Vaishnava karma, businesses, communication, copy writing, making of sculptures, differently enabled, chariot, knowledge of different types of dancing, vaada ailments, ailments due to poisoning, going behind low women paying money, extremely knowledgeable in saastraas, man of words, fewer children, green gem, banana leaves and medical plants, mong dal, fenugreek etc., are all the kaarakaas for Budha.

Guru (Jupiter): Putrakarakan

Children, Lord Brahma, wisdom, yogaabhyasam, Acharyatvam, siddha purusha, initiator of mantras, shrewdness, consultant for powers that be, mimisters, service to royal family, money, clean personality with discipline and maintaining decorum, getting prominence with royal families, shrythi, smruthi, saastraas, vedas, positivity, humility, gold, vaidoorya, topaz, gometakam, fragrant flowers, sweets, both eyes, ascetic, rishi vargas, honey, peanuts, jeera etc., are all kaarakaas for Guru.

Sukra (Jupiter): Kalatrakarakan

Spouse, abode, housing, association with many women and vice versa if the person is a woman having association with lot of women, adultery, musical instrument, bharatanatyam, fine arts, varieties of perfumes, comfortable and luxurious bed, rajastree, charming and beautiful, satisfied conjugal felicity, beauty, youth, black eyes, prosperity, ratham, gems, silver, vehicles, garlands, perpetual lively person with high sense of humour, sarcastic, Sri devata upaasaka, protection of people with amiability, good in maintaining relationship, cow, milk, white beans, curd rice, tamarind, deva dasis, black alloy, Lakshmi kataaksham, marriage, overseas travels, mediation etc., are all kaarakaas for Sukra.

Saneeshwara (Saturn):  Aayush Karakan

Longevity, grama devata upasana, career, cultivation of buffaloes, iron, steel, hiring and managing people, servitude, cultivating lands, agriculture, blue gem, wood work, stealing, self pity, getting imprisoned, capial punishment by royal kingdoms/governments, gossip monger, shamelessness, grief, argumentative, liabilities, ashybha karmas, unconcealed craze for eating and consequent health hazards, association and consummation with low class women, disabled and mentally retarded women, widows and separated women. This characteristic applies to women in their own ways, amputation, mental disorder, diabetic, pitha rogam, udad, mustard, gingely oil jaggery etc., are all kaarakaas for Saneeshwara.

Rahu: Karaka for Paternal Grand Father

Gnana, paternal grand father and his lineage, chivalry, overseas travel and settling down there, multifarious activities, servitude, doing things detrimental to one’s own community, doing things that do not befit the pedigree, magician, comedians, consummation with sick women, leprosy, ailment, epilepsy, gaseous distensions, imprisonment penury, compulsive lying, etc. If Rahu is in 3rd, 6th or 11th places from Lagna or Moon, Rahu is bound to help the native.

Ketu: Karaka for Maternal Uncle

Maternal uncle, cunning, gnana, skin diseases, overseas employment. Would be exposed to liver, kidney disorders, prolonged stomach ailment, escape from agni gandam, leprosy, eczema, allergic skin diseases, moksham, getting imprisoned, arrogance. Also kaarakaa for paternal grandmother.
